LA (RUNYON): THE BEST FAITH IN MAN (AND WOMAN) KIND

Time was when I walked Runyon Canyon all the time.

In those days, I could make it to the top still breathing easily, while carrying on a conversation, subtly absorbing star sightings and suppressing the desire to exclaim, "Why are people hiking in full make-up, aviators and Ed Hardy hats?!"

BUT now I am no longer a regular and so I can't help myself from wondering why people would exercise in Loree Rodkin gothic necklaces.  Fortunately, for The Drewser (my current hiking partner) I'm too winded to voice my indignance out loud.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to find the above food and water cart perched at the foot of Runyon Canyon with an honor system in place.  You take what you want and put the correct amount of cash in the slot at the front.  Personally, I just love that, even in a city as big and crazy as LA, there's still an honor system cart at the foot of a public park.  Not to mention Runyon's free yoga.

Though I think they should implement an extra fee for people in Ed Hardy.
