As if I haven't been guiding you not so subtly towards my articles enough lately, here's a link to a story about the launch of Fred Segal Originals on  Basically, Fred's daughter Annie has created her own line, which now has a space next to Umami burger at the Santa Monica store (the one on the east side of the street).

I won't get to see if before I head back east sadly for Thanksgiving.  I'm starting my turkey day celebration early.  Gobble, gobble.  (Stuffing, that is.)

LA (AND BEYOND): SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION [Beauty’s Take on Capsule Collections]

By Nora Zelevansky / November 19th, 2010

Since it's Friday and you probably already have one foot out your office door, might as well read my article, running in Sunday's Los Angeles Times "Image" section about how the beauty industry is catching on to the "capsule" collection trend.

Then read it in print on Sunday too!  It's an all me all the time weekend.  Sorry.

A long long time ago, I can still remember, how that jacket used to make me smile.  And I knew if I had my chance, that I could make that jacket dance and maybe we'd be happy for a while.  But February made me shiver, which why I needed the jacket delivered … blah blah blah.

Don't ask.  All I'm saying is that about a decade ago, I got a jacket as a gift that I still really love, which is basically my "it's raining and I need something cozy and waterproof" jacket.  There's only one problem with it: It has no hood.  So every time I wear it, since it's usually in the rain, I have to find the right hoodie to fit underneath etc. etc.

I don't have to tell you that these are trying times, people.  No, I'm kidding.  I know there are worse things in the world.  Like John Mayer, for instance.  But ANYWAY the point is that this is why I am totally and completely validated in feeling like I need the above Lululemon jacket to complete my wardrobe.

It looks even cuter in person.

I saw this at the Beverly Hills store when I went in for a complete "fit" session and tried on basically everything in the store complete with full explanations.  But more on that amazing work out gear later. For now, let's just all make dream boards about me getting this jacket.

It's the "secret."

It's my birthday!!!!

That's it.  That's today's whole post.  What?  That's not ENOUGH for you?

Well, take a gander at the invite I received a couple weeks ago to the pre-launch party, celebrating Lanvin for H & M at the Vegas Flagship store (check out the collection here).

Obviously, I was excited to receive this box.  I mean any number of fabulous, amazing things could have been inside!  Turns out it was an invitation, sadly to a party in a city where I don't live.  Alas!  I could have shopped early!

Screen shot 2010-11-11 at 7.29.45 PM

Underneath the invitation itself was a little gift though.  It's a large flower pin.

I have to be honest: I sort of have no idea how I would wear this in my universe, but it's still a fun novelty.

Meanwhile, I'll have to camp out and shop like the regular people.  Birthday month and all!

Okay, now go plan my elaborate gift and original song before my birthday ends.  Go!  Go!

So, I was having lunch at Toast with some PR buds and some very interesting factoids came up.  You guys know I'm a fan of Lifebooker for beauty discounts.

Did you know that in addition to Groupon, you can sign up at and get discounts on meals at restaurants all over town.  And not just lamo places.  Real spots. One girl said she got 30%-off at Street last week.  They even offer suggestions on what to eat and reviews.

I just signed up.  I mean, for reals.  So, if you aren't quite sure, I'll try to keep you posted on any meal discount successes!

P.S. Speaking of discounts, starting today on Gilt HOME, D.L. & Co. goods are more than 50%-off (and I am obsessed with these, but they are usually SO out of the price range) and Gilt is having a sale on H2Pro flat irons too.

It's true what George Bush said.  The Internets are a crazy thing.

SONOMA (HEALDSBURG): H2 Oh! [Spoonbar at H2 Hotel]

How pretty are these cocktails?  This is long overdue once again, but my camera/computer sitch is only just back in commission.

This makes twice in the town of Healdsburg that I've had cocktails that have blown my mind.  First was at Cyrus, where I think the drinks were conceived by the same genius, Scott Beattie.  Second, well, let me explain:

Screen shot 2010-11-07 at 4.04.06 PM

Sistah C. & I went to Spoonbar at the new cool kid hotel on the square h2 (which is owned by the Hotel Healdsburg people).  Their other hotel is swankier and has been around for a bit, but this has a truly eco and youthful vibe.

With that in mind, h2's restaurant has created this bonkers mixology program, which includes the Cucumber Collins (see left above) with a mixture of fresh and pickled cucumbers and yuzu and the Siddartha (above right) with Thai coconut milk, lemon verbena and St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur.

Pair drinks like those with a sampler of appetizers like the below with local cheese, fried risotto balls, spicy lamb meatballs, fried olives and house cured ones and you've found Nirvana.  Don't forget the oysters!

Not to sound like a character on You Can't Do That On Television, but usually I hate all things liver. However, apparently that truth is overruled by how much I LOVE olives and all things friend, because these olives stuffed with chicken liver just SLAYED me.

And you thought wine country was all about wine.

Happy Monday!

Okay, I know I already covered Hominy Grill in Charleston awhile back, but I JUST uploaded all my photos and frankly I couldn't help but share this one.

I mean, how awesome does this look?  This is like a sampler platter of all things southern (with miraculously nothing fried), but it was the pink pickled eggs that caught my fancy (not surprisingly). They taste as good as they look.

Kind of like … no, I won't go that route.

A.MAZ.ING.  I need to get back there STAT.  Calgon, you know what to do …

This is long overdue, BUT the above vintage "Deco" bracelet was an amazing find by my 'rents in a Lewisburg, West Virginia antique store.  Who knew West Virginia had so much to offer?  First a Democratic senator and now this!

My mother thinks it's a 1920's or 1930's cellulose cuff and I think it's awesome no matter what it is.  Have you noticed all the jewelry designers copying such things in the last couple years?

Anyhow, you may notice the cobblestones below my arm.  That's a clue that the picture was taken in Williamsburg, VA, where we traveled after North Carolina.  Don't you just love a cobblestone?
